Haaallllloooo! It's Alaysia, back with another blog. So for this blog I will tell you about my experience in working at the Science Show. So every year, the CKTV Media Crew films the Science Show, and creates one big slide show or video. Mr. M split us up into groups, I was in a group with Javlynn and Ysabel. We actually didn't get to go inside the Science show, which was fine because I went to an excursion to see the Science show the day before. So, Javlynn, Ysabel, and I stayed outside with the exhibits, getting B-roll of the students coming in and learning about the exhibits and interviewing them about the Science Show. I thought the exhibits were pretty interesting, to be honest, and getting to see my old teachers was definatly a plus also. But hearing what the students had to say about the Science show when we interviewed them was the best. When we got back to school, we imported the footage we got and Mr.M gave us advice to improve next time. Thats all for this blog, BYEE!

Music. Music is a important thing in life. I listen to it everyday, whether its on the radio during a car ride or on my iPod walking to school. Even more importantly, it's in movies. Without music, or songs in movies there would be no suspense or action. Movies would be very boring and plain. Scary movies would be not scary or horrifying anymore. So In this blog I will be telling you 3 ways music has affected movies.
The first way my experience watching a movie was affected by music is in Scary movies, like Insidious. There's some suspenseful music during the rising action, which quickens your pace up and gets your heart racing a million hours an hour. The next example of how music affects movies is in musicals such as "Grease" or "High School Musical" Series. Without Music in it, there would be no musical, it would only be just "High School" High school without the musical is like me without music...bad example. It's like only ham in a ham and cheese sandwich- missing something really important and it sucks because you don't get to enjoy it all. Okay enough with all these cheesy examples.....see what I did there? Moving on...another way music affects movies is they inspire the viewer and make them happy, or makes the viewer sad or feels the pain of a character in the movie by using happy and inspirational songs, or sad and emotional songs. Like in "Garfield", when Odi was locked out of the house he felt so lost and sad, causing him to run away, during that time some sorrowful music has been playing. Music is important. Without it car rides and walking to school would be boring, and movies would be plain and not make sense. Music affects not only movies, but it also affects other things, like people's emotion or feeling. This blog may or may not make sense.....oh well, BYE! Hey! If you've read one of my latest blogs, It was of my struggles in media so far. So this blog will be of my strong points and good skills in this class. My partner has been teaching me and I'm still learning. I'm grateful to have her as she is very experienced in media. So I think my skills in this class is being the technical director during the morning announcments, transcribing, and the Advisory games.
The first thing that I believe I was good at is the morning announcments; at first when I realized I was assigned as Techinical Director, I started to get worried and scared because I've heard lots of people that have said, "Technical Director is the hardest job" or "That is the hardest job out of the morning announcments". On the first day of working the morning annoucments, I admit it was a mess. We didn't really have much time to practice, so it was haywire. After that morning, I was pretty scared and believed what they were saying. But the next morning and the days after that, I got it down thanks to the help of the crew. I'd be lying if I said it was the hardest job there, because you basically press 4 buttons- 1,2, DDR, and Auto. The next thing I thought I was okay at was the transcribing of our interviews. I thought this was fairly easy because you just listen to the interview and type it on your computer or your iPad. I personally like using my laptop because I know that apple devices have auto-correct and tends to correct a bunch of words, also I like to type, and I think transcribing has really improved my typing skills and my w.p.m.. But I have to admit transcribing is very tedious work. It takes time to transcribe a 12 minute video, or even a 2 minute video. You have to replay it over and over to make sure it was word for word, but I still thought it was easy. The last thing I thought was easy is our Advisory Game. Our Advisory game is on naming that Christmas Movie. I thought it was easy because I had a bunch of help from my partner, and we got all of our photos form the internet, so we didn't need to worry who we will we take photos of or if the photo is okay or not. This is the ending of this blog, of my skills and the fears that I have conquered. It's safe to say that I think the technical director in the morning announcments, transcribing and the advisory games were okay and a little easy. Well that's the end! Off to Doctor Who! Byeee! Helllllooooo! It's Alaysia back with another blog! So for this blog I will tell you about my favorite television show, "Doctor Who". Doctor Who is a Sci-Fi British Television show created in 1963. It was recreated in 2005. It is about an alien who is the last of his kind, the time lords from the planet Gallifrei. He time travels in his blue police box- his Tardis (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) trying to save everyone he comes across with. What is interesting about the tardis is that it's bigger on the inside than on the outside. He has many foes such as the Daleks, Cybermen, and the Master, another time lord. The Doctor can regenerate himself when he is hurt or wounded since he is a time lord, but his face changes every time, so far there has been 11 actors of the Doctor. But that's not all I'm here to talk about. It's one of my favorite t.v. shows because not only it's addicting, but because of its a cool effects. For example, when he regenerates. His arms and his face starts to glow with these magical particales then it replaces the original Doctor with a different face, a new actor.
Hey guys! So I've been playing around with my iPad and found this really cool app. The app is called notability. It's a note taking app which lets you draw, type, highlight, record and organize notes. In this app, you do not need to make an account to use it. To help organize your notes, notability lets you create subject folders and dividers. Besides the tools in taking notes, drawing, highlighting, typing, and recording, there are two others I haven't spoke of yet; a magnifying glass and a hand, which can be found in the bottom right hand corner. With the magnifying glass, it opens up a window, where it lets you view a text closer; zoomed in. The hand is a "palm rest". It is for your other hand to rest when you are writing or drawing. So that's it for this blog. Thanks for reading!
Hey guys, It's Alaysia again, back with another blog!
So this weeks blog is going to be about the difficulties in media, so far. Some difficulties for me in media right now is the deadlines, radios, and blogging. So the first thing I think is difficult for me is the of amount of work to do and the pressure on meeting the deadlines. The deadlines are getting closer and closer! I'm worried because my partner and I are a little behind and I have a bad habit of procrastinating! But I believe if we work hard enough and put in our best effort, we will meet it in time. The second thing I think is hard is the radios. My partner and I are starting to work on the radios, researching and things. But the thing that worries me is that I haven't found my "Radio Voice" yet. Mr.M says we have to have a "Radio Voice" when we are recording. So a "Radio Voice" is a voice, that is exciting and interesting, so it won't bore the listeners. But the problem is, I haven't found mines yet. Hopefully I'll get my voice soon. Lastly, I found our blogs challenging. I think it's a bit hard because I can't find the right words to fit in a particular sentence, or how to write out my answer. But I'm sure ill get the hang of it soon. (Hopefully) Some people are having a difficult time in the morning announcements, or their advisory game. However, I think the most challenging part Is the deadlines, radios and blogs. Haaallllloooooo!!! :D This weeks 2nd blog will be a review of the app "Reminders". Reminders is a built-in-app, if you have an apple product with a iOS of 5 or higher. I personally like this app because I have a really hard time remembering things and I'm always on a "gadget" so this iPad will act as my "2nd mom". This app allows you to make lists, which you can categorize. In my list so far, I have, "Reminders", "CKTV", and "School". It also lets you choose an alert, and write notes under or for that reminder.
Hey Guys! This weeks media blog topic is about our Quarter 1 Media project! So basically, we are supposed to write about what's going on with our project; and how we are doing. My partner Lilly and I filmed an interview of Bill Cowern. After filming the interview, we transcribed it. I say things are going good with my partner and she's very helpful.
Yes, we have shot an interview with Bill Cowern, the President of Hawaiian Mahogany. It was pretty interesting, and I learned a lot of things that the internet can't tell you about the Albizia Trees! We also got more B-roll while we were there. But we were pretty bummed out when we didn't get a tree falling down on camera, but we were fine since we got a lot of nice B-roll shots and an interview done. Honestly, it was pretty fun getting to experience interviewing someone. We are scheduling 2 more interviews, of her grandma and a person named John Robinson. After the interview that day, I went straight to transcribing as soon as I got home, because I don't like to procrastinate and stress out. I really got to understand what Bill Cowern was saying when I transcribed word for word that 12 minute long video. I thought he had a very extended vocabulary and knew a lot about the history of the Albizia Trees. I'd say things are going pretty well with my partner. She is very helpful and helps me when I get lost or confused. She is also very smart, so I can rely on her to show me how to do something, or help me. In conclusion, we've done an interview and transcribed it. Also, I think things are going pretty well with my partner and our 1st Quarter Project on the Albizia Trees getting cut down on Kauai. Even though we are behind by a bit, we are working very hard and trying to keep up. Thanks for reading. :D |
